Over 20,000 Over 20,000 Cherokees were forced to march westward along the trail of tears. About a quarter died along the way.

Cherokee nation vs. Georgia
The Cherokee Nation sued the state of Georgia for passing laws and enacting these policies for their limited sovereignty and they were forbidden from the constitution and federal laws.

According to legend According to legend, a Cherokee rose and a state flower of Georgia grew in every spot a tear fell on the Trail of Tears. Today the flowers grow along many of the trails that the Native Americans took west.

problems Expansion and Indian removal created phenomenal problems for the New American nation in the terms of its moral character. The argument that was used was, ‘’This had to be done to save these poor Indian people. They don’t fit in the east, so we have to move them to beyond the frontier where they can do their Indian thing unmolested. This is the only possible way to save them.’’

farmers Many of the Indian tribes in the southeast were farmers, who were very successful and civilized, yet they were moved to Oklahoma.
