Seaing meaning in “The Seafarer”
Each group will be assigned a question. Work with your group to answer the question fully. Use textual evidence to support your thinking. We will then present our findings to the class. This will give us a chance to teach others (the highest form of learning) and learn from other groups.

Glossing the Text In your group, talk about how to best paraphrase each stanza of “The Wanderer.” Write your decided paraphrase on the posters. Look for alliteration, caesuras, and kennings. Do we feel better about the poem now?

Homework Finish your culture projects. Quiz on Tuesday over all 3 poems and Anglo-Saxon poetry techniques. The quiz consists of 22 questions. It is multiple choice.

Do Now: Take out both poems. Hand in your Creative Culture Assignment to the back table. Make sure you have an artist’s statement and a rubric attached. Make sure you have a copy of the summer reading rubric, and a copy of the sample paragraphs. (On the podium)

“The Wanderer” We will be working in pairs to answer 10 questions about the poem. Talk to each other and ask each other questions. Hand in 1 copy per pair. You will have a quiz over all three poems and poetic terms (elegy, caesuras, kenning, alliteration) on Tuesday.
