History of GoPro Founded in 2002 by Nick Woodman
Had the idea while on a surf trip in Australia Raised money by selling bead and shell belts out of his van He also received a small loan of $230,000 from his parents…

How it all started GoPro founder Nick woodman was on a surfing trip in Australia with friends. He wanted to document the trip, but had a hard time having someone photograph him because they couldn’t get close enough or get the angles he wanted. Also the price of equipment that could do that was very expensive. This led to the idea of creating a small camera you could strap to your wrist.

GoPro’s Target Market GoPro knew right from the start who their target market was, people just like the CEO. They identified two markets they wanted to appeal to. The primary market was active adults ages The secondary market was teens and young adults ages

Promotion GoPro’s promotion strategy consisted of getting the GoPro into the hands of popular extreme sport athletes. They had them film themselves using the cameras and showcase the power of the GoPro, and its superior HD quality. The user created videos marketed themselves.

Place GoPro’s are available for purchase direct from their website with free 2-day shipping, and a money back guarantee. They are also available ANYWHERE that sells electronics, or anywhere that is sports or extreme sports related. Wal-mart, Target, Best Buy, RC Willey, Ebay, Amazon, etc…

Price One thing that has helped GoPro remain the leader in wearable action cameras is their customer oriented pricing. When the GoPro was released it was $200-$300 cheaper than any related product. This allowed them to gain a huge following of devoted customers. Throughout the years of new releases and updated products, GoPro has stayed true to their pricing strategy of the “Most affordable wearable camera” for its abilities and features.

Direct Competition Because GoPro did so well, many companies soon followed in their footsteps. Many big technology and camera companies began creating their own wearable action cameras to try to get in on the action.

Indirect Competition With the rise of popularity with drones, many people have began turning to those as a source for capturing footage. The drones provide a different view of these extreme activities that the GoPro’s don’t capture because they are attached to you. Also phone capabilities have improved tenfold and pose risk to GoPro. Now people have access to better cameras just in their pocket, of course they're not as good as GoPro, but the technology is getting better and better and will be there soon enough.

Future of GoPro One of the things that GoPro has announced for the future is a drone called “Karma”. They see the hype surrounding the drones, and want to get their foot in the door of that market as well. They have also announced that all GoPro models will be backwards compatible with “Karma” hoping to get old customers re-interested in the GoPro product line.

Our Suggestions Some of our suggestions included trying to bring the camera size down as much as they could without compromising on the technology inside. Also, we thought the addition of some new colors would spark more interest and allow consumers some personality in their GoPro.
