May 6 - Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship Day 1 (“States”; Novice and Junior Boats) May 8 – Stotesbury Forms Turn-in Night 7:30 to 9:00 PM May 13 - Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship Day 2 (“States”; First and Second Varsity Boats) May – Stotesbury Cup Regatta Philadelphia, PA “Stotes” – who attends/participates May – Scholastic Rowing Championships Cooper River, NJ “Nationals” – who participates June 2 – Final General Membership Meeting/Awards Ceremony and 30th Anniversary Celebration (WSHS Cafeteria)

6 Stotesbury Cup Regatta -- History and Background
World’s oldest and largest high school rowing competition Schuylkill River – since 1927 Last year 191 high schools, 984 boats, 5,679 athletes, and over 10,000 spectators; the biggest high school regatta in the world! Attendance on the trip is not mandatory All are encouraged/welcome to attend Coaches will row the maximum boats possible Parents/Families also encouraged to attend Each boat must have parent chaperone FROM THAT BOAT You must make reservations by calling the hotel

Overnight stay in hotel with chaperones Rowing dates Thursday – practice and orientation; pasta load at the river Friday – time trials all day; Pizza, Pins, and Pop in the evening Saturday – only qualifying boats race Return to WSHS – stop at rest stop in Delaware – arrive Saturday evening, May 20 at WSHS You will receive lots of s with the itinerary, forms and information which will also be on the team website at Boat announcements pending NLT Apr 30

8 Stotesbury Cup Regatta -- Forms and Procedures
Cost is ~$285 this year and includes bus transportation, hotel room, pasta load at river (Thurs), snacks and lunch at the river (Fri), Pizza/Pop/Pins (Fri dinner), lunch at river (Sat) Food and drinks (“Meal Plan”) provided for the rowers “Meal Plan” for parents and siblings is ~$35 (does not include pasta load at river Thursday night; This gets you food, snacks, drinks, and bowling Friday/Saturday “Friday-only Meal Plan”: $20, snacks and lunch at river Fees are due at Stotesbury Forms Turn-in Night on May 8th; Cash or check is accepted. Fundraising through the end of April can be applied to Stotes for rower fees only

Volunteers needed to help with luggage drop off, luggage loading, and chaperones; donations of some foods and drinks are also needed Bus and Room chaperones required No “double duties” You can sign up on Time to Sign Up sheets— available here tonight and on line ( will be sent with link) Luggage drop-off at the Killian’s: 7738 Carrleigh Parkway Wednesday, May 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Chaperone meeting that night at 7:30 PM

10 Stotesbury Cup Regatta -- Forms and Procedures
Depart on Thursday, May 18 after students report to school – approximately 10:45 AM Charter bus – 2 buses this year (Men’s and Women’s) with 2-4 chaperones per bus Priority for rowers and chaperones; others if space available for purchase (~$125 person includes full meal plan plus pasta dinner at Schuylkill river Thursday night) Travel is 3 ½ to 4 hours on bus (bag lunch needed; drinks provided; no stops) Rig boats and practice runs on arrival Pasta load for rowers, support staff, and bus riders at Team Tents Buses depart for hotel approximately 7:30 PM

Friday May 19 Early bus departs approximately 6 AM Late bus departs approximately 9 AM Time Trials all day Activities and vendors at the river Buses return to hotel approximately 5:30 PM Buses depart for pizza and pins approximately 7 PM Buses return to hotel approximately 9 PM

Saturday May 20 Check out NLT 7 AM Buses depart hotel approximately 7:30 AM Rest of day TBD based on qualifying Departure NLT 5:30 PM for home Travel time is 3 ½ to 4 hours on bus (one stop) Pick up at WSHS Saturday evening TBD We’ll an ETA based on departure time Have your rower text you at the Springfield exit All rowers report to Boathouse Monday May 22 to unload trailer and rig boats
