Improvisation Develops an understanding of form and meaning through spontaneous musical creation using voice and instruments Eurhythmics Teaches concepts of rhythm, structure, and musical expression through movement Solfege Develops an understanding of pitch, scale, and tonality through activities emphasizing aural comprehension and vocal improvisation

7 Who was Dalcroze? Emile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950) Swiss
Studied at Geneva Conservatory, Comédie Française, Paris Conservatory Studied with Anton Bruckner, Leo Delibes, and Matthis Lussy Conducted and chorus master in Algiers, North Africa Became professor at Geneva Conservatory Harmony and Solfege Saw ways that made music more accessible to his students Eventually opened a school near Dresden Maritza
