MEMORY VERSE: 1 SAM. 17:50. “So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David”

INTRODUCTION .David and Goliath is one of the interesting and well known stories in the bible. .God shows His mighty power by fighting for His people. .The uselessness of man boasting of strength and power was exposed. .Children of Israel rejected God’s plan and asked

INTRODUCTION CONTD. for king . .The king that will be their judge to go out before them and fight their battles. .Saul their first king disobeyed the Lord many times and the Lord rejected him. Therefore children who lives in sin and disobedience to their parents, teachers and God

INTRODUCTION CONTD. cannot overcome the battle of life because disobedience brings defeat and disgrace. .God raised David because of his obedience life to conquer Goliath the giant and great warrior. .You also will overcome the giants in your life if you choose to live an obedience life.

The Israelites and the Philistines were long time enemy. Goliath, the Philistine champion with boldness challenge the people of God because of his stature and weapons . The Israelites and their king were terrified because of his stature, boasting and weapon.

POINT 1 CONTINUED. The Philistine champion was fully equipped with armor and the Israelites feared him which shows their lack of faith and trust in God and His promises. Satan is still boasting and challenging the friends of Jesus faith today. God is looking for the boy or the girl who will stand for the truth and defend faith. Will he find you like David?

DAVID’S RESPONSE TO GOLIATH’S CHALLENGE: 1 SAM.17:12-37
David’s brothers were at warfront with king Saul and the army of Israel. Jesse their father sent David to warfront to see his brothers welfare and to give them food at this time Goliath appeared as usual to insult and boast against the people of God. David heard this was sad and saw the insult against the living God. David cared for the glory and honor of God than for his own safety or security made up his mind to defend the glory of God

POINT 2. CONTINUED What you should do as a friend of Jesus: .Stand for Christ. .Defend His word. .While others were making jest of God’s word be separated. .Stand against falsehood and defend the truth. David trusted in the Lord and was victorious. You too trust in the Lord, He will defend you.

DAVID’S VICTORY OVER GOLIATH AND THE PHILISTINE. 1 SAM.17:38-58; 2 SAM.21:15-22
Our victory over Goliath lies on the following: .Humility. .Total obedience. . Having faith in the living God. .Used to the words of God and trust in it as the only weapon. .Trust in God and not on our strength.

POINT 3. CONTINUED. Therefore as friends of Jesus any difficult situations and problems are our giants and they can be overcome, if we exercise faith like David. For friends of Jesus today, we are not fighting against Goliath of Gath, but we are fighting Goliath of: .G- Greed{desire to take or eat more than what you need}. .O- Over confidence in self probably because of your success, parent’s riches and position, beauty

POINT 3. CONTINUED. and other things. .L- Lust {immoral and dirty desire} and laziness. .I- Idol worship, Influences from the world. .A- Anger, Association with bad friends. .T- Tale bearing and gossiping. .H- Hatred and high mindedness {pride}.

CONCLUSION. Therefore, as a friend of Jesus there is no battle you cannot overcome if you depends totally on God. So as David conquered Goliath in the name of the LORD of hosts, victory also is sure through the name of JESUS. But only for friends of Jesus who are born again. Are you His friend? Give your life to Jesus now so that He can fight your battle. Shall we pray?
