5. ARTICLE
Any word used to signal the presence of a noun

6. CONJUCTION A word that connects other words, phrases or sentences
And, but, or, because
She was going to walk but then it started to rain.

7. ADJECTIVE
A word or combination of words that modifies (or describes) a noun
Her blue jacket is really old.
The temporary parking lot is looking full.

8. VERB A word that expresses action, existence or occurrence
I ran four miles today.
They decided their puppy needed a haircut.

9. ADVERB A word that modifies a verb, adjective or another adverb
She walked slowly through the door.
The orange snake slowly made its way through the classroom.

10. PREPOSITION A word that shows a relationship of a noun to another noun
By, in, to, from, with, through
She decided to come through the front door.
