Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ
3
1 Brothers and sisters, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. 5 For each will have to bear his own load.

6 One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Brothers and sisters, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Transgression: Accidental lapse Anyone & Spiritual: To those in the church Restore: Make new Gentleness: Gentle Strength, gearing down
6
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Fulfill: Completed Nature of the filling. Jerry Maguire Burdens: weight that carries personal and eternal significance.
7
Burdens and Loads Burden (baros) vs. 2 Weight with real substance
It carries personal and eternal significance Load ( phortion) vs. 5 Burden, freight of a ship It is a burden which must be carried by the individual, something personal and therefore non-transferrable.
8
But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. “Self-evaluation which does not use a wayward colleague as a standard of measurement is more likely to prove realistic, not to mention the fact that the wayward colleague is freed form being the object of comparison.’
9
For each will have to bear his own load.
Load: Burden or freight, individual. We all have our own stuff, should equal Grace, Compassion and an eagerness to Reconcile.
10
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
Sow: Present active with ongoing significance Reap: Future result of present actions Deceived: Deviate from the correct path
11
Reap Corruption: future, ongoing action
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Reap Corruption: future, ongoing action I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 5:21 Reap Eternal life: future, ongoing action. When you sow in the Spirit you will reap eternal life.
12
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. “Those whose hope is in the LORD, will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
14
Bad News “You can’t do it on your own.” “I can’t do it for you.” When it comes to your own load, you are on your own!
15
Good News Complete submission offers us life & produces fruit, and equals life. There are things we can carry together!
16
We carry our own load Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest…For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Mt. 11:28,30 Load ( phortion) vs. 5 Burden, freight of a ship It is a burden which must be carried by the individual, something personal and therefore non-transferrable.
17
“Testing our work” What are you sowing? Have you accepted Christ? Are there areas of your life you still need to offer to Christ? What are they?
