not useful for operating electrical devices because the charges do not flow continuously
current electricity
this continuous flow of electric charges from one place to another
an electric current is useful for electrical devices as long as there is an energy source and a complete path for the electrons to flow through

The name given to anything that converts electrical energy into whatever form of energy we need eg. lamp, toaster

conducting wire that provides a controlled path for electric current to flow to each part of the circuit

7. Closed vs. Open Circuit
a closed circuit is when a circuit is operating and current is flowing
ie. TV is on, light is on, etc.
an open circuit is when a circuit is NOT operating and current is NOT flowing
ie. TV off, light off, etc.

8. Direction of Current Flow
current flows out of the negative part of the cell through the wires (connectors), and back into the positive part of the cell
What causes it to happen this way?
negative charges build up energy and push through the wire
