1 Revisit that current is a flow of charge.
Lesson Aims: Revisit that current is a flow of charge. Understand how current behaves in series and parallel circuits. Calculate current at various points in series and parallel circuits. Explain the advantages of connecting lamps in parallel in a lighting circuit.

2 Demonstration Lesson Aims:
Coulomb meter and very high resistance resistor to demonstrate I=Q/t

3 Lesson Aims: Circuits Connect a variable resistor in series with a bulb and a cell. Adjust the slider of the variable resistor. Why does moving the slider change the brightness of the bulb? (Use key terms)

4 Current in series and parallel
Lesson Aims: Current in series and parallel 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 Build series and parallel circuits as shown, and put the ammeter in turn in each position 1, 2 and 3 (4). Record the current at each point. Investigate: What happens to the current in a series circuit and a parallel circuit? What can you say about the brightness of the bulbs?

5 Current in series and parallel
Lesson Aims: Current in series and parallel In a Series circuit the current at every point is the same. In a Parallel circuit, the current from the source is larger than the current in each branch. The current from the source is the sum of the currents in each branch. The advantages of connecting lamps in parallel in a lighting circuit are… Complete worksheet
