1 KIAMA BOWLING CLUB NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER KIAMA OFF TO STATE
Our Silver’s have remained undefeated through the regional playoffs to make the Club Challenge State Finals for a second year running. The boys defeated a strong Warilla outfit 3 rinks to nil in a home final. Congratulations to Tony Van Zanen, Tim Rossiter, Murray Sheather, Andrew Anstey, Rod Logan and Tom Hodgson who will all compete for the state title on Saturday 10th of December at Dapto BC. Should they get through their section against Grandviews, Taren Point and Mudgee they will play the State Final on Sunday 11th of December 930am at Warilla BC. Best of luck to the lads in defending the state title!! Come along to Dapto BC and get behind our guys!! Mixed Pairs/Triples Finals The mixed pairs was concluded through November. Mick Miller and Gloria Hodgson defeated Adam Rodgers and Joan Brownlie in the Semi to reach the Final. Mother Son combo Jo and Brad Hair had a big win over Cathy Dawson/Terry Boniface to face Miller/Hodgson in the Final. The final was played in tricky conditions with the Hair’s opening up a 16-1 advantage after 8 ends. However, Hodgson and Miller took 11 of the next 13 ends to take the title A fantastic comeback for Gloria and Mick, congratulations to both teams for providing the club a great final. The Mixed Triples was also won and lost through November. Steve Wills, Adam Schofield and Cathy Rymer made it through to the final with strong victories. Mixed King Mick Miller and his side of Rob Milton and Jackie Kirk had strong early round win over Team Rossiter, before defeating Team McIntyre by a shot in the Semi Final. Miller’s side picked up a 6 on the last end to tie the game before picking a shot up on the extra end to reach the Final. Miller’s troops defeated Team Wills in the final to take out the trophy. Congratulations to all teams who competed, and a special mention to Mick Miller who took out the Mixed Pairs and Mixed Triples titles in November, well done Mick. The last title of the year the Mixed Fours will be completed during December, good luck to all bowlers in this event. Kiama Ladies News The ladies recently held their annual Ham day. The winners on the day were Cathy Dawson, Vera Collins, and Stella Heidtman. Runners Up were Gay Reynolds, Shirley Swan and Anne Walker. These ladies will not go without this Xmas!! Bronwyn Campbell, Cathy Dawson and Gloria Hodgson recently represented Illawarra Zone side in the Anderson Irvine shield held at Kiama BC. Unfortunately the girls lost to the South Coast side. Well done on representing your zone and club ladies! Bronwyn Campbell and Pat Hennessy were recently selected in the Illawarra Side to play in the Howard shield in Newcastle . Good luck ladies!! The ladies will take a break in December and will be back stronger than ever in The ladies return to the green on January 10th. Phil Bushby Kiama The Phil Bushby shield is a rep game with the opens side taking on the seniors side. Kiama has been chosen to host this event on Sunday March 26th Another prestigious event that has been awarded to Kiama!! This event will attract some class players to our club, will not be an event to miss!! Other Kiama BC News The pennants sheet is up for 2017 and with current numbers it looks like we will be entering Grades 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7’s. Still looking for more bowlers, so put your name and represent your club!! The Club Fours and Club Triples entry forms are on the board. We are looking to complete both of these events in preparation for Pennants in March 2017. Adam Rodgers Bowls Coordinator
