Good evening, captains.. Here is some info on the Intramural Sports Program. "The mission of the Intramural Sports Program is to provide the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of UC Davis the opportunity to participate in a variety of competitive and recreational sports on campus." - We want

3 Director, Campus Recreation Associate Director, Campus Recreation
Intramural Sports is part of the Department of Campus Recreation Director, Campus Recreation Deb Johnson Associate Director, Campus Recreation Andy Ramirez IM Recorders IM Sports Coordinator, Ben Dao Maintenance Our Hierarchy Mention: Ben Dao-He is who you will be dealing with if you have any major incidents. All players who get ejected will have to meet with him as well before they are able to play in any other IM competition IM Sport Managers IM Supervisors IM Officials

4 Purpose of the Captains’ Meetings
Learn Captain’s responsibilities Learn IM Sport procedures for reschedules Learn the IM Sport policies and forward this information to your team. Learn the basic rules for your sport and have a chance to get your questions answered Obviously you are all here, so make sure that you sign out at the end of the meeting so that we have record of you being here.

5 Consequences of not taking Captain’s Quiz
Loss of 1 free reschedule per team for the season, loss of privilege to protest rule interpretations, loss of privilege to protest eligibility of players, team cannot make playoffs regardless of record All captains must take one captains’ quiz, and pass by the deadline(TBA), per quarter.

6 Captains’ Responsibilities
Represent team in case of protests and/or forfeits Cooperate with IM staff at all games (line-ups, scores, protests, injuries, forfeits, ejections, team and spectator conduct, etc.) Make sure all players show up in the proper equipment (No metal cleats/jewelry/pockets) Promote FairPlay and good sportsmanship Checking Scorecard and sign at the end of the game We want the captains to be the mouthpiece for the team, If for any reason you need to speak with the officials or the supervisor, we expect you to do it, not your teammates. You are also responsible for your spectators, if someone on your sideline is causing problems you will receive the yellow card for them as we cannot card people who are not on the roster. In case of incidents the supervisor and/or officials may ask for your help, it is your responsibility to do so. The reason that we have the captains sign off on the scorecard is so that you have the opportunity to look over and confirm everything on there. You are responsible for all players added to your roster. When you are signing off you are verifying that all player information and the score are correct.

7 Reschedules There are regular season and playoff reschedules
Reschedules: A team in need of a reschedule will need to contact the IM Office as soon as possible. All teams who attend the captain’s meeting will earn 1 free reschedule that can be used anytime during the season (regular or playoffs). There is a $25 fee for all team reschedules and a $10 fee for all singles/doubles reschedules. Other team has to accept the reschedule for it to be finalized. Options for reschedules will be based on availability of facility space and staffing. Same sport game conflicts

8 Reschedules continued..
Reschedules need to be finalized at least 24 business hours in advance via a confirmation from our office. Without this , the reschedule is not finalized and the game will be played as originally scheduled. This means that all Sunday reschedules need to be finalized by Friday by 5 p.m. If you read this PowerPoint and pass the captains’ quiz, you have earned one free reschedule During the regular season, teams only have the first 2 weeks of the season to request a reschedule. After the first 2 weeks of the season, no more reschedule requests will be allowed until playoffs. It is highly recommended that teams look ahead at all of their games to determine if a reschedule is needed.
