Eph 6:1 - Eph 6:4(TMNT) 1. Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. 2.“Honor your father and mother” is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it, namely, 3. “so you will live well and have a long life.” 4. Fathers, don’t exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.

The God’s plan for Fatherhood
Children, obey your parents. The nature or character of this obedience, is expressed by the words, in the Lord. It should be religious; arising out of the conviction that such obedience is the will of the Lord. This makes it a higher service than if rendered from fear or from mere natural affection. As a child obedience is the highest honor you can pay your parent

Verse 4. Key Words to consider Fathers—including mothers; the fathers are specified as being the fountains of domestic authority. Fathers are more prone to passion in relation to their children than mothers, whose fault is over-indulgence. Provoke not—irritate not, by vexatious commands, unreasonable blame, and uncertain temper. Colossians 3:21, “lest they be discouraged.”

Verse 4. Key Words to consider Nurture—Greek, “discipline,” namely, training by chastening in act where needed (Job 5:17; Hebrews 12:7). Admonition—training by words (Deuteronomy 6:7; “catechism,” Proverbs 22:6,), whether of encouragement, or reproof, according as is required Of the Lord—such as the Lord approves, and by His Spirit dictates.

The God’s plan for Fatherhood
Children are not to be allowed to grow up without care or control. They are to be instructed, disciplined, and admonished, so that they be brought to knowledge, self-control, and obedience. It doesn’t just happen.
13
The God’s plan for Fatherhood
It is the nurture and admonition of the Lord, which is the only effectual means of attaining the goal of mature, prosperous, spiritual children. Where this means is neglected or substituted in its place, the result can be disastrous – a complete failure.
14
The God’s plan for Fatherhood
It is only by making God, God in Christ, the teacher, ruler, and authority that the goals of educating and raising children can possibly be attained. It is folly to assume to be wiser than God, or to attempt to accomplish this end by any other means than those which he has appointed.
