Sequence a story through words and pictures. Write a comparative diary between the life of a child from another culture and myself. Looking at and creating e books Science Explore the requirements of plants for life and growth (air, light, water, nutrients from soil, and room to grow) and how they vary from plant to plant. Recognise that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways. Recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things. Identify how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways. Become familiar with the conditions and resources experienced by creatures living in the rainforest. Investigate amounts of money. Record and compare time . Measure, compare, add and subtract: mass (kg/g); Multiplication and division using formal written methods. Recognise, find and write fractions . Draw and recognise 2-D and 3D shapes in different orientations . Interpret and present data using pictograms and tables and bar charts. Music To build up knowledge of the sounds of the rainforest and imagine life there. To create rainfall and storm using hands and body parts. Learn rainforest facts through song. Understand the meaning of and investigate the positive and negative points of deforestation. Art To improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials. Study of artist - Henri Rousseau. Design their own Kayapo-style patterns. Investigate different effects that can be created with colour and monochrome. Design and Technology Make group dioramas of canopy and emergent layers of the rainforest in shoe boxes, including the creatures found in these layers. To apply their understanding of how to strengthen, stiffen and reinforce more complex structures.
