2. Assumptions
You are an independent consultant hired by the firm to conduct a research project and to prepare a formal report.
As a business person your efforts will be judged by:
Your command of the research question,
The validity of your results,
The quality of your presentation, and
Whether you can state the relevant results succinctly.
Your audience has no specialized training in either mathematics or forecasting techniques.

3. The Written Report Contains 3 parts: The Letter of Transmittal
The Body of the Report
The Appendix

4. The Letter of Transmittal
Similar to an invoice or packing slip
It may be written in letter or memo format (make sure to sign or initial)
Should contain one succinct thought (e.g., 3 period forecast of recommended model)
Attach to the front of the report – it is not part of the report

5. The Body of the Report
The Body of the Report is approximately 5 to 7 double-spaced pages in length and contains the following:
Summary of Results and Conclusions
Analysis of Models
Evaluation of Models

6. Summary of Results and Conclusions
Approximately 1 page
Outlines the purpose of the project
Summarizes some of the significant results
Makes a model recommendation
Gives results of recommended model

7. Analysis of Models Approximately 2 to 3 pages
Gives a general description of each model analyzed
Describes the purpose or rationale of method of each model analyzed
Gives forecast results for each model

8. Evaluation of Models Approximately 2 to 3 pages
Gives a general description of at least two evaluation methods (e.g., MSE and MAD)
Includes specific results for each model analyzed
Evaluation supports the original recommendation

9. The Appendix May be of any length Contains: Model formulations
Any detailed mathematical data or calculations
Graphs & charts (at least 2)
All computer output
