Since 1900 Maori population began to increase again Cultural revival in 1960s and 70s: poetry, artists, language schools (Kohanga Reo) etc Te Reo Maori now the official language of NZ Maori now have greater place in NZ society: –Treaty of Waitangi problems addressed –Maori symbols used in tourism The Maori population is now increasing at a faster rate than the European population of New Zealand.

BUT, Maori are still worse off than Pakeha: Poorer Less educated Poor health More criminals
