PRE-AP ELA and Social Studies Enrollment Criteria
Although enrollment in these courses is open, the following should be considered by students and parents when considering enrollments in these courses: Curriculum is more rigorous, moves at a faster pace, requires independent learning and outside reading and work. Students should have a proven history of academic success in the subject area, possess interest in the subject area, consider balance of academic load with outside commitments, possess high quality study skills and be actively engaged in their own learning and take responsibility for the workload.

At the end of the semester, all students below a 70 WILL BE removed from a Pre-AP course. Parents and staff may recommend a student exit if semester average is
12
Accelerated Math and Science Enrollment Requirements
First Time Enrollment criteria in these classes: 85 or higher yearly average in Math and/or Science course preceding year to qualify for either class. OR level III on STAAR Math test the preceding year to qualify for Accelerated Math or Science. Note: It is not required for the Accelerated Math and Science class to be paired; however, it is strongly recommended because as students progress through the curriculum, the math courses will support the science courses. If the courses are not taken in conjunction with one another, the student’s course enrollments may begin to not match once in high school. For example, it is to a student’s benefit to be enrolled in Algebra II while enrolled in Chemistry.
