We discussed the problem Subject Verb Object Our goal should be to make as many of our sentences as possible this clear.

3 Principles of Clarity #1&2
#1.Make main characters subjects. #2.Make important actions verbs.

4 What NOT to do... Yesterday, a fight took place between Rick and Bobby. What is wrong: Fight, a verb, is acting as a subject in this sentence. Rick and Bobby, who are subjects, are acting as verbs.

5 How to FIX it: Yesterday, Rick and Bobby had a fight. SUBJECTS VERB
WHAT WAS BAD: Yesterday, a fight took place between Rick and Bobby.

6 Nominalization Taking verbs and making them nouns.
Can cause weak and confusing sentences! EX: discover vs. discovery EX: she flies vs. her flying

7 A Sentence seems clear When...
