1) What is Technology? Technology is the making, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization in order to solve a problem or perform a specific function. (Wikipedia definition)
4
2) What is a Technical Object?
5
2) What is a Technical Object?
A man-made object that serves a purpose (or function).
6
3) What is a Technological System?
A technical object which transforms matter or energy. Ex: A scooter transforms chemical energy (gasoline) into kinetic energy that moves the scooter (and the driver) forward.
7
Components of a system Technical systems have: Inputs:
Everything that enters a system Ex: matter, energy, force a transformation process The task the system performs Outputs: Everything that exits a system Ex: can be matter, energy
