2 AIM OF THE GAME The aim is to win enough points to win a game, enough games to win a set and enough sets to win a match. The first person to win six games wins a set, but only if they are leading by two clear games.

3 Start of the game Players must toss a coin to decide who starts.
The winning player then starts off with a serve from the opposite box to their component.

4 Duration of the match A Female tennis matche can last up to 3 hours as they only have to win 2 sets however the average is about 2 hours total. For men, a match can go up to 5 hours (playing 5 sets) but the average is about 3 and 1/2 hours altogether.

5 Scoring Size of the pitch
A game is played up to 40 points then its match point. 1 win equals 15 points. The winner must be leading by at least a 2 point lead. Size of the pitch The average size of a tennis court is 78 feet.

6 Facilities and equipment
In a game of tennis you will require a tennis pitch with nets and a tennis racket and ball. Officials You will also require a umpire and a line judge and a match ref.
