2 About JA: What Do We Offer?

3 In 2014-2015 15,160 students went through the JA BizTown program!
The “JA” in JA BizTown Mission: We teach students how to Get a Job, Start a Business, How Money Works. Our Programs : K-12 In Class, JA BizTown, JA Finance Park, Job Shadow, and Company Program. Cornerstone of our programs: Volunteers! In ,160 students went through the JA BizTown program!

4 Program Timeline Teacher training Done Deal!
Mandatory pre/post-testing Online this Year! Classroom instruction 13 pre-visit lessons, 1-2 days of visit preparation, 1 post-visit lesson Volunteer training the day of your visit, 1.5hrs before the students arrive Student on-site visit 1 day, 4.5hrs in our town! Post-visit activities posttest, 1 debrief lesson, thank you notes

Pre Test Online Week 1 – Community & Economy Citizen Pledge, Public & Private Goods & Services Taxes, and Philanthropy. Week 2 – Financial Literacy Bank Account Application, Check it Out, Savings, and Debit Cards. Week 3 – Work Readiness & Jobs Tab Interests & Skills, Job Application, Interviews, Job Assignments and Account Numbers. Week 4 – Business Management & Visit Day Preparation Business Costs, Setting Prices, BizBriefs, BizPrep Workbooks, Checkbooks, and Debit Cards. Week 5 – Visit Day & Debrief Volunteer Training, Bus Transportation, 21 Manila Envelopes and Flash Drive, Photo Consent Forms, Lunches, Extra Materials, and Thank You Notes. Post Test Online

26 Experiential Learning: JA BizTown Visit Day

27 Visit Day Roles Teachers: Help Out at the Banks, Take Pictures, Complete Paperwork, Eat Lunch and Have Fun! Volunteers: Assist the Students, Eat Lunch and Have Fun! Students: Complete Job Tasks, Pay Off Business Loan, Purchase Items and Balance Checkbook. JA BizTown Staff: Direct School and Volunteers, Set Up Schedule, Answer Questions, and Have Fun!

31 Please Take Note! Debit Cards:
You are receiving them in the classroom, but they need to bring them on the Visit Day! They are encoded, so it is imperative that the students have their names on the back and that they match the students account number on their checkbook. Volunteer Registration: We will be piloting a new online volunteer registration this year! They will go online and complete a form, instead of filling it out the morning of. The rest of the process remains the same. Parking: Due to our new high school program, parking is very limited, and volunteers will need to park below at the church. There is motorcycle and handicapped parking reserved though up top. Handicap Access: We do have parking, as well as a ramp and electronic ramp outside, as well as elevators and bathrooms downstairs.
