Review: Current Tool - DRDP (2015) – Preschool Comprehensive View – August 31, 2016 Tool is organized by domains and these domains are aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (HSELOF) Requires on-going observations and collection of evidence Child-level assessment data is aggregated and analyzed Data used to support program goals, environment and curriculum planning

The Conditional Measures
Conditional measures are to be completed when certain conditions/circumstances are met There are 10 conditional measures in the DRDP (2015) Preschool Comprehensive View Approaches to Learning (ATL-Reg)* = 3 English Language Development (ELD) = 4 Cognition, Including Math & Science (Cog)* = 1 Physical Development- Health (PD-HLTH)* = 2 * Must rate these measures if preschool-age child has an IEP (any IEP) ELD measures should only be completed if a language other than English is spoken in the child’s home (These are the explicit instruction from DRDP tool. See p. Intro-10) If using DRDP (2015) Infant/Toddler View – ALL 29 measures MUST be completed

English Language Development Measures
Used only with preschool-aged children when a language other than English is spoken in the child’s home Assess progress in learning to communicate in English

6 Different Developmental Levels for ELDs
The “Discovering English” level is foundational acknowledging the child’s skills in the home language as they first begin to discover English.

Remember…….. Determining Highest Level Mastered
A developmental level is mastered when the child typically demonstrates the behavior: Consistently over time, and In different settings.
