2 WWI Vocabulary Central Powers-
Alliance that included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire Allied Powers – Alliance that included France, Great Britain, Russia, and later the United States Nationalism- Pride and loyalty to a nation

3 WWI Vocabulary Trench Warfare-
Warfare in which soldiers dug into deep trenches across the battlefield Zimmermann Telegram- a telegram sent by Germany to Mexico asking them to declare war on the United States Lusitania- British passenger ship that was sunk by Germany

4 WWI Vocabulary Armistice- An end to the fighting Reparations-
Monies a defeated nation has to pay for the destruction it caused Propaganda- Opinions expressed for the purpose of influencing the actions of others

5 WWI Vocabulary League of Nations-
An organization set up after WWI to settle international conflicts Isolationism- Policy of opposing a countries involvement in international affairs Alliance- People or nations involved in a pact or treaty

6 WWI Vocabulary Fourteen Points-
President Woodrow Wilson’s goals for peace after WWI Militarism- Building up of Armed Forces Imperialism- Building of an empire

7 WWI Vocabulary Victory Gardens-
Gardens planted by American citizens during war to raise crops for home use. Conscription- Requiring people to enter military service also known as the draft Hooverizing- The process of conserving food and energy during WWI

8 WWI Vocabulary Treaty of Versailles- Treaty that ended WWI
Great Migration- Movement of half a million African Americans from Southern cities to Northern cities

9 Task You are to create a crossword puzzle using at least 15 of the terms.
