Goals and objectives Goals Objectives
To make real world connections between unit rates through travel Expose students to a new area of the United States Analyze distances Review area and composite figure Objectives Students will be able to find the rates in minutes or hours. Students will be able to find the prices per person Students will be able to find the shapes in a composite figure in order to calculate area.

One stop Students must calculate the rates in minutes and hours.
Students must also look through the pictures added to find out what animal has taken over the pier.

Students must check out the website and find the cost it is for tickets for each person.
Information on the website is displayed in a table and they must find the link to tickets.

Brainy Bits The hippocampus should be activated because students have learned how to calculate areas of irregular figures in 6th grade, in 7th grade they are called composite figures. The amygdala should be engaged because students are talking about a new location. Many students in Teaneck do not travel beyond their town. Exposing them to new places and experiences helps them learn about the country.
