1) Kahoot Kahoot is a free online real-time gaming quiz platform that creates a spreadsheet of student answers (and students can use their phones to participate). You can either create your own quiz from scratch or duplicate someone else’s and modify it to make it your own (there are thousands to choose from).

To Create a Kahoot Go to create.kahoot.it
Sign up for a free account or log into your account You can either create a brand new Kahoot from scratch or search through the many public Kahoots and copy (and /or edit) and use it.

2)Quizizz Very similar to Kahoot, but students can see answer choices on their devices and they control the pace of the questions (still timed). Can assign as homework and works with Google Classroom.

3)Nearpod (free version)
Free basic version allows 30 students of less to play Basic functions work great with KET Newsquiz Nearpod gives the teacher control over the classes devices when they join with a pin number. Link to presentation materials from Nearpod:

Nearpod with KET Newsquiz
My goal was to get 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to listen, watch and comprehend a current event news program in a fun and gaming atmosphere. Teacher previews KET Newsquiz and creates Nearpod quiz. First question is a Challenge Question since it is based on previous knowledge. Next 10 question are taken directly from the video. Prizes are given to students who get all 10 questions correct, double prizes for if they answered the Challenge Question correctly also.

Plickers short instructions
Go online to login and create your class Add students Go to library to add new questions (or can use old questions and assign to a class) Once classes are set up and questions are created and assigned – click on “live view” Open up app on your phone or tablet – choose the class that you want to scan answers for. Click on the question that you want to show live to the students. Scan the answers by clicking on the scan icon on the phone or tablet (portrait orientation). Plickers 2 minute how to use video link:

Why did I choose these? They are FREE!
Students don’t need accounts (usernames and passwords) to access them. 3 of them are accessible from any device that can get to the Internet. One of them (Plickers) can be utilized without individual student devices. They all save your data to an Excel Spreadsheet.
