3. The Parable of the Wedding Banquet Matthew 22: 1-14
Matthew 22:1-13  Once more Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying:  “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding banquet, but they would not come. Again he sent other slaves, saying, ‘Tell those who have been invited: Look, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready; come to the wedding banquet.’  But they made light of it and went away, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his slaves, mistreated them, and killed them.  The king was enraged. He sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.  Then he said to his slaves, ‘The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy.  Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.’  Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both good and bad; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.
 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing a wedding robe,  and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding robe?’ And he was speechless. 
Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
We also will displease Jesus if we go to Holy Communion without first being properly prepared.

4. At the Last Supper, Jesus washed the feet of his apostles.
This was a sign that we are to receive Jesus with purity and innocence of soul.
This also taught us that we should seek to serve rather than to be served.

5. How do we prepare our hearts to receive Jesus?
Preparing to receive Jesus isn’t something we do quickly just before Mass. We should always be ready to meet Jesus. This means we try to live according to Jesus’ teaching.
As followers of Jesus, our lives should be filled with prayer and good works.
When we lose the supernatural life of grace that we received at Baptism through mortal sin, we should immediately ask God for forgiveness and renew his life in us by going to confession.
How do we prepare our hearts to receive Jesus?

6. Receiving Holy Communion Often
We express our faith in Christ’s presence in the Eucharist by saying “Amen” when we receive Holy Communion.
We should receive Him in Holy Communion often, with a sincere and humble heart, trusting in His great love and desire to be untied with us.

9. After Peter declared that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, Jesus declared that He would make Peter the Rock, or foundation, upon which He would build His Church.
He said, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
Thus, the Church has the authority to administer the sacraments.

10. The office of Peter (the Pope) is to govern the people and make/uphold rules, teach the Faith without error, and sanctify through the Sacraments.
When Peter died, his authority was passed on to the next Pope, and so on, down to the present day.
The authority of Peter always resides in the Pope of the Catholic Church.

14. I Will Be With You Always
Jesus promised His disciples that He would not leave them orphaned.
He instituted a way to stay with us at all times.
Jesus is present in the Blessed Sacrament which is kept in the tabernacles of our churches around the world.
A lamp called the sanctuary lamp, is kept burning there as long as the Blessed Sacrament is in the tabernacle.
