2 What are they? Where can they come from? How do we find out about them?

3 What are they? Scholarships: A scholarship is given to a student because of a reason: the student has qualified for or won it by academic or athletic ability, or by agreeing to follow a particular career, or has some special ethnic or other characteristic. Scholarships are not given for financial need alone.

4 Grant: Grants are non-repayable funds or products disbursed by one party (grant makers), often a government department, corporation, foundation or trust, to a recipient, often (but not always) a nonprofit entity, educational institution, business or an individual

6 Alexandar Rutherford Alexander Rutherford had the distinction of being Alberta’s first Premier. Up to $2,500 Eligibility: To receive this scholarship, you must meet all of these eligibility criteria: be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident be an Alberta resident; You or your parent(s) must have resided in Alberta during the qualifying grade(s).  be enrolled in, or have completed 60% of a full course load in a post- secondary program of at least one semester in length, or an apprenticeship program.
