General Information:
Regional Innovation Systems (RIS) advocates that global competitiveness and connectivity depends on the capacity of urban regions to generate and distribute new knowledge and expertise produced with research institutions, public and private sector.
This project focuses on how key metropolitan regions from different continents are embedded within the global networks of leading firms and research collaborations in life sciences including biotechnology

3. Projects Our initial findings indicate that:
Multiple Globalizations: Life Sciences
New York and Paris are the most important global hubs for global life sciences firms.
Boston and London are the most important global hubs for multinational life sciences collaborative research.
In Asia Pacific, Singapore remains relatively stable as a global business and research hub.
In Africa Johannesburg is the most connected city for business and research.
In Middle East, Iranian cities of Isfahan and Tehran comes up as the most important research hubs.
US and China are the most connected cities both in research and companies. They also have the strongest link between each other.
