Reminder: we use sometime le passé composé or l’imparfait to speak about an event in the past; but to speak about event in the past which chronologically took place before an other, we use le plus-que-parfait.

5. Le plus-que-parfait is made up of the imparfait of the auxiliaire être or avoir and the past participle of the verb conjugated.
