6 Curriculum & Instruction Committee (CIC)
Review, develop and recommend new and/or modified curriculum policies Serve as an academic forum to discuss and act upon proposals for credit-producing learning experiences as well as academic programs Encourage a transdisciplinary approach to curriculum and instructional growth Promote academic excellence and educational opportunity and encourage the use of appropriate standards throughout the curriculum Encourage participation on this committee.

Changing one or more of the following is a revision*: *If you plan to revise several of the above items, consider whether this is a new course: Would it be appropriate for students (who took it previously) to take it again for additional credit? If content has changed that significantly, drop the course and submit a new course proposal. Special Exceptions: One- or Two-time requests (x96) fm Special/Variable Topics (x00): Must have an umbrella course (requires prior approval as a new course) that broadly defines the nature of the topic Documentation required is the same as a permanent course offering; signature route is different If GE, RES or GLP designation is requested, additional consultation will occur with the respective committees

files can be imaged Department chairs and support staff have access to view current and archived curriculum documents Departments may upload course syllabi into Image Stout using an Intranet web form (Provost website- forms & applications):

11 Course-Related Fees Annual (each October) review and approval is required for extraordinary instructional Four types of funding – use the same approval process Access to Learning (ATL) Special Course Fee (SCF) Software/Access Code/Incidental fees Student Technology Fee (STF)

13 Early Alert Program Occurs each term, coordinated by Advisement Center
Instructors of 100-level courses and courses with >50% first-year students Survey link sent directly to the instructors, with department chairs copied Instructors provide input regarding students’ academic performance and attendance in the classroom   First year advisors contact students, with submitted early alerts, to discuss options for resolving the concerns

Currently occurs annually each Spring reqdocumentation.cfm?txtblk=geassess GE Course Assessment Reports Reports are archived and accessed through UW- Stout’s information portal .cfm Survey link sent directly to department chairs for you to forward to instructors

15 Relationship with Program Directors
New major ideas generated at the department-level Departments offer courses that support programs Programs have implications for courses, faculty and staffing All program modifications (additions, revisions) are listed on the Academic Plan d.cfm

16 Biannual Assessment in the Major (AIM)
Systematic effort and progress on improving student learning outcomes Assessment of student learning outcomes related to program objectives Include direct and indirect measures Faculty, department and college involvement is essential List of programs:

17 Planning and Review Committee (PRC)
Standing committee of the Faculty Senate Conduct regular program reviews, at least x 4 years Documentation reviewed includes: Program self-study Surveys of students, key instructors, and advisory board Annual Program Metrics Strengths, areas for improvement, and four-year continuous improvement plan Faculty, department and college involvement is essential
