Each has different plants and animals living in it They share common characteristics: Lots of Rain Humidity Warm Temperatures No seasons

Lots of Rain! Rainforests get a lot of rain!
16 feet of Rain Rainforests get a lot of rain! In most rainforests it rains almost every day Often have thunderstorms Almost ALL rainforests get over 6 feet of rain per year! Many get more than 16 feet of rain! Some get 30 feet of rain! 9 feet of Rain (Amazon Rainforest) 3 feet of rain (Seattle, WA)

Humidity Rainforest Water Cycle Moist air forms clouds Rainforests have very high humidity Humidity: The amount of moisture in the air; even when it’s not raining, the air in the rainforest feels wet and steamy Water released into air Rain falls Roots soak up moisture

Very Warm Rainforests are very warm
Temperature in most stays between 75 and 80 degrees all year long!

No Seasons Most rainforests don’t have a difference between winter and summer Some have a short dry season when it doesn’t rain at all (seasonal forests)

Biggest Rainforest Amazon Rainforest (in South America) is the biggest tropical rain forest Bigger than the states of Texas, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Minnesota, and Alaska combined!
