UBUNTU All human beings are interconnected Every action has implications for all those around us Personal identity is the result of the past and present lives of others. Using an arts approach Based on emotional response Personal response
Addressing language barrier Resilience Enjoyment of school Positive attitudes We decided upon an arts and sport based approach to both the education of teachers and the education of children for two reasons The arts and sports are currently deeply under threat in education through the rhetoric of back to basics, inspection regimes, and official dissing of arts as micky mouse subjects or unable to generate jobs The arts and sports are essentially about bringing together those important aspects of emotion, culture, community, identity and spiritual/meaning making aspects of life
