PPQ .....What we do PPQ Mission
PPQ MISSION: Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) regulates the importation of plants and plant products under the authority of the Plant Protection Act. PPQ maintains its import program to safeguard U.S. agriculture and natural resources from the risks associated with the entry, establishment, or spread of animal and plant pests and noxious weeds. Other plant protection activities. (research, methods development, export certification, etc. Prevent exotic pests from entering the U.S at Ports of Entry. Regulate the movement of commodities to prevent spread of plant pests. PPQ Mission Search for and Detect exotic pests which were not excluded at the Ports of entry. Control or Eradicate exotic pests which have become established in the United States.

What are Biologicals? Plants, Organisms, and Soil
Plant pests (plant feeding insects, mites, snails, slugs, and plant pathogenic bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc.), biological control organisms of plant pests and weeds, bees, parasitic plants and Federally listed noxious weeds, earthworms, soil for the purpose of isolating or culturing microorganisms from the soil. Veterinary Biologics (VS) Vaccines, bacterins, antisera, animal proteins, diagnostic kits, fomites, cell cultures, bone ash, bone black, or bone char, hides, tissue samples, and other products of biological origin…

How to Apply for a Permit
ePermits ePermits is a web-based system that allows users to submit import /interstate movement/transit/release permit applications, track applications, apply for renewals and amendments, and receive copies of their permits. ePermits uses a USDA-wide system for login called USDA eAuthentication. To use ePermits, you will need to register for an eAuthentication account with Level 2 access for most application permit types.
