Females can breed from 5-6 years old whereas the male at that time is usually 7-8 years old. Hippos are normally born in the wet season.
At the age of three, hippos stop feeding from their mums and start eating grass. But they stay close to their mums.

Hippos are omnivores and feed on carrion (very rarely) and have been found to eat meat.
Hippos NEVER eat in water. They also sometimes eat land and reeds.

Hippos run 30kmph which is an incredible speed!!
