2. What is the Early Years Foundation Stage?
It is an outline of teaching and learning from birth to 60 months
The final year of the EYFS is the Reception class of a primary school.
It is based on the recognition that children learn best through play and active learning.

5. Learning Behaviours Whole school initiative
Learning Behaviours are the crucial link between the way in which children learn and their social knowledge and behaviour. They are about ‘how’, and not ‘what’, the children learn.
Each behaviour is represented by a character or ‘Learning Friend’.
‘Learning Behaviour’ displays can be found in classrooms and in the school foyer.

7. Learning Behaviours
Our aim is for the children to develop an understanding of how they learn and to be able to identify which attributes they already demonstrate and others they may need to develop.
We therefore ensure that the children understand what is expected for each of these learning behaviours (their attributes).
Children are encouraged to talk about and reflect on their own learning and staff are consistent with the language we use.

Opportunities are provided for the children to develop and practise these behaviours, through well designed activities across the whole curriculum i.e. carefully chosen stories, circle times, small group activities, assemblies.

Tapestry is an online Learning Journal to securely record photos, videos, observations and comments in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
It allows us to work with parents and carers to view work from school and build up a record of your child's experiences during their time with us as well as monitor development and learning.
