2nd year at Arcola Grew up in Upstate NY College-SUNY Cortland Graduate School- Walden University Studied abroad in Brisbane, Australia Lived in NY, MD, and VA Resides in Aldie

3 Morning Bell rings at 7:35 Late Bell is at 7:50 Arrive ON TIME each day! Instruction begins promptly after announcements.

4 Grading Report Cards 1:B- Below: With assistance student struggles to demonstrate partial mastery of current grade level expectations. 2:P- Progressing: With assistance. Student demonstrates partial mastery of current grade level expectations. 3:M- Meets: Without assistance. Student consistently meets and demonstrates mastery of current grade level expectations. 4:E- Exceeds. In addition to meeting the standard the student makes application beyond grade level expectation.

10 Homework Reading is expected every night.
While reading: Ask your children to retell the story in sequential order. Identify the characters, setting, problem and the solution. Talk about the main idea and key details in the story. Ask them about their favorite part. These questions may be answered orally and written! Optional Homework: Writing- Sight Words correctly. Complete sentences with phonetically spelled words. Math- Dreambox/IXL/Prodigy

11 Assessments Classroom Assessments: Running Records, Checklists, Teacher created. Standardized DRA: Q1= 4/D :on grade level Q2=10/F: on grade level Q3=12/G:on grade level Q4=16/I-18/J: on grade level. Phoenix: Online Grading Tool: On average 1 grade/subject/week is marked and graded in the system. I try to avoid the use of too many worksheets. Project Based Learning, hands-on manipulatives, dry erase boards, oral discussions, and technology are used to support your child’s learning. Most grades are taken based on the application of their knowledge through one of these means.

14 Behavior Management Reward Expected Behavior: Dragon Bites, Table Tallies, Verbal/Written feedback, Prize Box Consequence for Unexpected Behaviors: 1. Remove from the activity, 2. Think Sheet, 3. Parents will be notified. I am trained in Social Competency and Social Thinking. I believe we should teach the whole child. It is my goal to teach your child to become an academically as well as socially competent individual.

15 Food Breakfast: Students may eat breakfast at the school prior to the beginning of class with parental permission. Water Bottles: Label with child’s name, seal tightly, contain WATER ONLY. Snack: Bananas, Cereal, Apples, Goldfish, Crackers, Water only NO PEANUTS, NO NUTELLA, NO PEANUT PRODUCTS Please no messy snacks and no candy Lunch: Begins at 12:20 each day.

19 Parental Support You are the most important person in your child’s life and I would like to support you in any way that I can! I readily respond to s and phone calls. I am very confident that your child will display growth in all areas of his/her development this year. I take pride in helping your children strive to the best of their abilities. I differentiate my instruction based on the needs of the child because no two children are the same! Everyone learns differently, responds to situations differently, and possess different strengths and weaknesses. I will get to know all of these characteristics about each one of your children! I hope we can work together to help your child grow into a proud, happy, and independent learner!
