ACTIVE vs PASSIVE VOICE
Passive Voice: Occurs when the subject of the sentence receives the action. Example: The tree was struck by lightning Active Voice: Occurs when the subject of the sentence performs the action. - New Example: Lightning struck the tree

ACTIVE VOICE - Examples
#1- Passive Mr. Zande was the one chosen by the students as the “Best Teacher of the Year”. Active: The students chose Mr. Zande for “Best Teacher of the Year”. #2 – Passive King Duncan is killed by Macbeth. Active: Macbeth kills* King Duncan. *puts the sentence in Active Voice and also in Literary Present Tense (all actions of novels written in this tense)
