PIH-EQUIP Teen Club Implementation & Logistics
Timeframe: Teen Clubs are on Saturdays only to ensure no one misses school. Suggested time is 7:30am-1:30pm. Each facility decides which Saturday (first, second, third or fourth) and can add another Saturday if the group grows too big for only one session. No Teen Clubs weekdays. Curriculum: PIH-EQUIP will use Baylor’s updated curriculum to establish a theme and lead the education talk each month. Teens: Only teens who are fully disclosed can come to Teen Clubs. Teen Club Volunteers: PIH-EQUIP staff will identify facility staff who have time and “heart” to invest in regularly organizing Teen Clubs. This group will receive a small stipend. Teen Mentors: PIH-EQUIP staff will identify Teen Mentors from those who have attended Teen Club, willing to help younger teens and no longer at school. Teen Mentors will be at Teen Clubs and at some regular ART clinics to help adolescents with adherence or disclosure support. Teen Club Preparatory Meeting: The day before a Teen Club, all staff, volunteers and mentors will meet to go over the curriculum for the day and schedule events and logistics. The Teen Club Preparatory meeting should takes 1 or 2 hours and should be done when ART clinic staff and volunteers are available (no during busy ART clinic).
