Found footage Found footage is a genre of film making, especially horror, in which all or a substantial part of a film is presented as discovered film or video recordings, often left behind by missing or dead protagonists. The events on screen are seen through the camera of one or more of the characters involved, who often speaks off screen. Filming may be done by the actors themselves as they recite their lines, shaky camera work and naturalistic acting and dialogue are often employed for realism. (wikipedia) Major critique of these films is their lack of character development Examples: Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity

Things to watch for From whose point of view is this film shot? How does this influence the way we as viewers experience the film? How effectively does the director use the “found footage” and mockumentary genres in the film? Who are the trolls? What do they represent? Is this movie more than just a “monster movie”? Is this film a horror film? A comedy? What genre would you place it in?
