2016 Finalists for Grades K-6
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) 2016 Finalists for Grades K-6 Mathematics Science Erica Epling Seminole Janet Acerra Pinellas Deeanna Golden Jackson Alicia Foy Palm Beach Jennifer Willis Sarasota Alexandra Laing The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science (including computer science). Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education. Since 1983, more than 4,400 teachers have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession. If you know great teachers, nominate them to join this prestigious network of professionals. Every year hundreds of teachers are nominated by peers and administrators. From there teachers then proceed through the rigorous application process. Committees made of experts in the fields of mathematics, science and pedagogy review the applications and narrow the field to a handful of state finalists. Finalists, then move to the national level where 1 math and 1 science teacher will be chosen. These 2 teachers, now awardees, receive a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation, invite to a luncheon in Washington D.C and an audience with the president. Nominations for mathematics and science teachers of grades 7-12 will open in the Fall of Access
