5 What is the ACT? The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English Mathematics Reading Science The Act includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, including a short break. (Exception if you choose to take the writing portion. This would add 40 min to the test.) ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the US. The basic registration fee includes score reports for up to four college choices. You must list these when you register.

6 The ACT consist of four multiple-choice tests:
English 75 Questions 45 Minutes Math 60 Questions 60 Minutes Reading 40 Questions 35 Minutes Science The content of what each test will measure can be found at actstudent.org Optional Writing Test: Prompt with 40 minutes (not included in statewide testing)

7 What score does my student need?

9 How is it scored? Score Report Example
Correct answers are converted into a score that ranges from 1 to 36. Only correct answers are counted. Points are not deducted for incorrect answers, answering every questions is encouraged. Composite scores are the average of your four test scores, rounded to the nearest whole number.

A score at or above the ACT College Readiness Benchmark indicates at least a 50% chance of obtaining a B or higher or about a 75% chance of obtaining a C or higher in the corresponding first-year college course.
