Automated Surface preparation
Fast, effective, safe methodology = The key to efficiency

3
Method statement Wasteman water jetting (SUHP) is a highly productive, economical surface preparation method that produces a "white metal" finish - up to the WJ-1 international standard. The process leaves a surface profile free of bent peaks, which trap contaminants that cause corrosion. And it's spark-free and virtually dust-free, protecting the surrounding area as well as personnel. Cleaning rates with 40,000 psi (2,800 bar) water jetting are as good as -- or better than -- those of abrasive blasting, but with 98% less residue left behind. Abrasive blasting also leaves over 1,500 times as many airborne lead particulates, according to a 1998 report by the National Shipbuilding Research Program.
4
Advantages No grid whatsoever Air pollution is no longer an issue
The system can run automated Disposal costs are down Gives a better result than grid blasting Does not damage the surface
5
Comparison Grid blasting/Sand blasting SUHP Traps contaminants
Cleans to surface and leaves surface as per original spec Conceals damage or crack Opens all surface cracks and cleans them for better repair capabilities Conventional Means: 1 x Sand blast pot set up = 1 x Blast Nozzle +/- 8m2 per hour 3 x personnel 1 x Compressor and Diesel Super ultra high: 1 Suhp unit = two guns/one crawler. +/- 10m2 per hour See profile pictures to the right

Specialized Surface Preparation World leaders in development & supply of surface preparation equipment, spares, accessories and services The SPE Group of companies encompasses a range of industries specializing in the development, production and distribution of world leading Surface Preparation Equipment products. From concrete to steel, our products are designed to tackle the most demanding surfaces quickly and efficiently. Autoblast machines, floor grinders, floor planers & scarifiers, multistrippers, mixers and hand tools - whatever your need, we have the products, skills and service to take the complexity out of any surface preparation task with reliability and cost effectiveness.
7
SURFACE PREPARATION – SPE The Advantage of using the SPE Range of Equipment is that it offers superior efficiency in a dustless environment,, Using almost a 10th of the Abrasives used in conventional sand blasting operations. SPE Equipment is Ideally suited for Storage Tank Floor and Wall Applications

Abrasive Comparison Abrasive Consumption per m2: Old methodology
Mineral Slag 50kg/m2 one use New Wasteman option Steel Grit / Shot 11kg/m2 recycled 5 times Waste volumes on 2000m2 Tank Floor (estimated): Mineral Slag 100tons – HAZARDOUS Waste Steel Abrasive 2.2 tons – Hazardous waste (liner only)
12
Productivity Comparison
Conventional Means: 1 x Sand blast pot set up = 1 x Blast Nozzle +/- 8m2 per hour 3 x personnel 1 x Compressor and Diesel SPE Technology: 1 x 20ES Autoblast unit 20-25m2 per hour 2 x personnel 1 x Generator and Diesel NOTE: 50%-60% increase in production speed.

Conclusion SPE Equipment is more efficient – more m2 cleaned per hour
Far Less Abrasives used – grit disposal reduced Less personnel, lower Sheq Risk Dust free environment. Apply paint directly after preparation is complete Minimal cleaning required SSP is a faster more effective way to ensure minimal hazardous Disposal. Scaffolding will be reduced drastically – Our Crawler units work magnetically, and will clean up and down the vertical surfaces. This methodology is being used with huge success in refineries all over the world and locally in South Africa by Engen and SAPREF
