Objective to increase quality, safety and reliability of Lao products and services, and improve competitiveness through implementing national standards, technical regulations and formulating and implementing viable industrial development policies based on systematic, comparable and action-oriented country analysis. Project components: Component A: Development of National Quality Infrastructure (USD 1,745,000) Component B: Enhancement of the Industrial Statistics (USD 713,000)

It is noted here that the number of staffs trained has been overred the target. the number includes the staff members mainly industrial statisticians in the provincial department who were also heavily trained that who we were not foreseen would be one of the core beneficiaries when we designed the project. This is because the DIH has decided to lead the survey process and involved the provincial department of industry and commerce as much as possible for data collection and entry, as oppose to hiring external consulting firm. The database system has been developed as well as the Prototype Software System. The list of statistical indicators will be developed following the completion of Manufacturing Establishment Survey.
