Who was involved? Triple Alliance Triple Entente
Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy Later the Ottoman Empire (present day Turkey) Triple Entente France, Britain, Russia Later the United States joined them.

How it all began The war in Europe began when Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated. The United States entered the war when German foreign minister Arthur Zimmerman sent a telegram to Mexico promising them all territory that had been lost to the USA if they would declare war on the United States.

Weapons of WWI Advances in weapons led to more soldiers dying in a war than had ever died before. Weapons and Advancements Tanks Machine Guns Fighter Planes Submarines (German U-Boats)

Life in the USA during WWI
In school you would receive a 10 min. lesson everyday on being patriotic. All books about Germany and its culture were pulled from book shelves in all libraries. In order to conserve food so it could be sent overseas for troops families had “wheat-less” Mon. and Wed. “meat-less” Tues. and “pork-less” Thurs. and Sat.

The results of WWI 8,000,000 soldiers died in WWI.
The Triple Entente was victorious. In over 4 years of fighting the Triple Entente gained only about 3 MILES of ground in the trenches!!!
