Organized unions in all industries Concentrated on two larges industries without unions Auto & Steel New Tactic – “Sit-down Strike” Occupied factory No work Prevented “scabs” (replacement workers) UAW – United Auto Workers – 1937 Union Membership tripled 3 million in 1933 9 million in 1939
