We use indefinite pronouns when we don’t know or don’t need to mention by name the people/thing we are talking about.

4. people Positive sentences: Listen! Somebody / Someone is singing.

5. someone / somebody: one person some people: more than one person
Someone is on the phone now, you have to wait for minutes.
Some people are waiting in a line outside the shop.

6. people Questions: Listen! Is anybody / anyone singing?
Is there anybody / anyone in the fitting room?
Is everybody / everyone here?

7. people Negative sentences:
There isn’t anybody / anyone in the fitting room.
There is nobody / no one in the fitting room.
Nobody / No one has come to the party.

8. anybody / anyone in positive sentences: any persons
Was anybody at home at that time?
Anybody who breaks the law will be punished by the law.

9. things Positive sentences: Millie has something to eat.
There is something wrong with my watch.
Anything is possible.
Everything goes well.

none可指人也可指物。
