Ben says (that) he studies well. Ben said: “I study well.” Ben said (that) he studied well. Dick said to me: “ I usually buy a lot of sweets.” Dick told me (that) he usually bought a lot of sweets. They said to me : “We are going to London soon.” They told me they were going to London soon.

Nick said: “I can swim badly.”
Nick said he could swim badly. We said: “It doesn’t rain in winter.” We said it didn’t rain in winter. Ann said to me: “I have just met Boris in the street.” Ann told me she had just met Boris in the street.

Refer direct speech into indirect speech
I said: “I know English very well.” I said (that) I knew English very well. They said: “We are going to the cinema.” They said they were going to the cinema. Nick said: “I can repair my bicycle.” Nick said he could repair his bicycle.

Ben said to Harry: “I have already bought chess.”
Ben told Harry he had already bought chess. Sally said: “My friend doesn’t like milk.” Sally told her friend didn’t like milk. She said: “They often speak about the weather.” She told they often spoke about the weather.
