Intro “How we learn to read and write” is
Listening and speaking are natural be haviours. Reading and writing, however, are quite different. They have to be taught and painstakingly learned. “How we learn to read and write” is So, Very important topic

Learning to read - reading approaches 1 Phonic approaches
Phonic approaches are based on the principle of identifying the regular sound-letter relationships in a writing system, and teaching the child to use these to construct or decode words.

Whole-word approaches are based on the principle of recognizing indvidual words as wholes, without breaking them down into constituent letter or sounds.

Children need to be motivated by having materials and activities that are interesting. 2 Children also need to foster their cognitive skills. 3 When Children encounter a word they cannot read, emphasis is laid on helping them to work out for themselves what it must be. ( reading on to the end of the sentence/ back to the sentence beginning, checking any illustrations)
