General Knowledge Ancient Greek Theatre was around the time period 550 BC – 220 BC. At this time Athens was in power. Athens made a festival about the god Dionysus Main menu

Masks The masks that they wore for performing were like helmets and covered the whole face. They wore a wig on top of the Mask for more effect. They also had holes for eyes and a happy or a sad mouth. The mouth holes were large so their voice could project. Main menu

Stage Skene-The stage, scene.
Orchestra-The place where all the band play. Theatron-The place for seating and watching. Parados-The corridoors at the front of the stage from which the actors entered Main menu

actors Only men could act because women had to do cleaning, cooking (how sexist!). There were not always actors in Greek plays. Main menu

Costume For comedies they would dress in bright colours and for tragedies they would dress in dark colours. They would wear boots to make them taller. Main menu
