FIMA’s Common Purposes
Bring data and analysis to inform and motivate individuals to take a risk reducing action they’re not inclined to take Help people, communities, and our organization prepare for likely events that we hope will never occur Aid survivors by effectively and efficiently delivering on our policy contract, avoiding frustration and confusion Deliver benefits to the taxpayer, the policyholder, and the nation based upon sound business practices and trust bestowed upon us Improve the health of our organization to better enable excellence in the delivery of our program and mission

Improving flood risk data will help us to achieve FIMA and RMD’s aspirations and desired outcomes
6
Maintaining the Maps to Ensure Technical Credibility
Flood maps are dynamic FEMA uses the Coordinated Needs Management Strategy (CNMS) to manage this process and to capture the associated mapping needs FEMA uses the New, Validated or Updated Engineering (NVUE) metric to measure the stream miles where the flood risk engineering data is valid or current and those miles in need of restudy
7
Sound flood risk information is foundational to the NFIP and motivating people and communities to own their evolving risk Expanded delivery of flood frequency data Improve digital delivery and display Improve technical accuracy Be based on high resolution topography Inform structure based risk-decision making Aligns with and advance NFIP reform and TMAC’s recommendations
8
FEMA’s Implementation Strategy for TMAC Recommendations
Address technical recommendations through our consistent, routine approaches Engage internal and external stakeholders on program changes to support implementation of transformative changes Strategic investments and planning to lay the foundation for transformative policies, products, and regulations

We are operating on the assumption that the FY17 appropriation will be similar to FY16
Risk MAP FY2009 – FY2016 d 2009 2016 2013 2010 2011 2012 2014 2015

Lidar Investments FY14 - ~$12M FY15 – ~$11M FY16 – ~$24M
Large majority of FY16 spending through USGS GPSC Approach for FY17 is similar to FY16 Individual Regional priorities will determine FY17 spending Plans and future year priorities are shared through 3DEP collaboration site on SeaSketch
